Long-term Disability

$975,001 – $1,000,000: The insurance company approved this client’s claim during litigation. It was a disability claim related to PTSD. A portion of the settlement was paid out immediately and the rest is paid monthly to age 65, or as long as the client remained disabled.

Our client was a customer service representative who worked in the financial services sector. The insurance company was Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.

CPP Disability

$411,999: Approval of CPP disability claim involving chronic back pain. Our client was a commercial cleaner. We successfully represented this client at his hearing before the Social Security Tribunal. $271,836: Approval of a CPP disability claim involving chronic neck pain. The client was a customer service representative. We got the claim approved at the reconsideration appeal with Service Canada. She received a lump sum payment of $34,379 and will get the remaining $237,457 in monthly payments until age 65.

$248,450: Approval of a CPP disability claim involving Lyme Disease. We successfully represented the client in her initial application for benefits. She received a lump sum payment of $17,753 and will get the remaining $230,697 in monthly payments until age 65.

$202,426: Approval of a CPP disability claim involving Fibromyalgia. The client was a teacher. We successfully represented her in the reconsideration appeal with Service Canada. She received a lump sum payment of $15,814 and will get the remaining $230,697 in monthly payments until age 65.

$199,618: Approval of a CPP disability claim involving Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The client worked as an early childhood educator. We successfully represented her in the reconsideration appeal with Service Canada. She received a lump sum payment of $17,289 and will get the remaining $182,329 in monthly payments until age 65.

$190,521: Approval of a CPP disability claim involving Arthritis. We won this case at the client’s hearing with the Social Security Tribunal. The client worked as a licensed practical nurse. She received a lump sum payment of $34,417 and will get the remaining $156,104 in monthly payments until age 65.

$163,828: Settlement of CPP disability claim involving depression, addiction and cognitive impairment. The client represented herself unsuccessfully up to and including the tribunal hearing. We represented her in the appeal to the Social Security Appeals Tribunal. Service Canada offered to settle the case after receiving our written submissions for the appeals tribunal judge.

Workers Compensation

$1,919,656: Approval of a workers compensation claim involving a low back injury with chronic pain. The client worked as a licensed practical nurse. She represented herself on the initial application and was denied. She then unsuccessfully appealed with representation by a worker’s advisor. She then hired us to represent her at the Worker’s Compensation Appeals Tribunal. However, before the tribunal hearing we filed one final appeal with the original workers compensation review officer. The review officer approved the appeal and our client avoided a tribunal hearing. She received a lump sum payment of $32,180 and will receive the remaining $1,887,476 in monthly payments until age 65.

$479,038: Approval of workers compensation claim involving knee and ankle injuries. The client was a commercial driver. We won this case at the internal appeal with the workers compensation agency. The client received a lump sum payment of $42,932 and will get $436,106 in monthly payments until age 65.

$366,563: Approval of a workers compensation claim involving chronic neck and back pain. Our client worked at an iron ore mine. The client hired us after losing his initial application and appeal using a worker’s advocate. We were successful in filing his final appeal with workers compensation. He received a lump sum payment of $32,978 and will get the remaining $333,585 in monthly payments until age 65.
